Underwater marine corrosion begins at the time that dis-similar metal parts become commonly connected (bonded) together to form electrolytic (corrosion) cells.

Impressed Current Corrosion (Cathodic) Protection
makes use of a permanent long life anode, mounted on the bottom of the boat, supplying a continous current to the metals to cancel the electrolytic (electrolysis) effect.

You can do corrosion protection testing to determine your own specific needs.
